Made for You... In the Name of Love

Have you every seen something so perfectly beautiful that your jaw literally forgot how to stay closed and fell to the floor in wonder at what you were witnessing? That’s what happened to us… several times… when we saw these photos of the new collection ‘In The Name of Love’ by Made With Love.

It’s no secret that we adore MWL. This Aussie brand stole our hearts from day one, and continues to blow us away with their unique designs and stunning silhouettes. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming soon to The Modern Bride!

MWL_NYC_DAY2-24.jpg

River

This beauty is the definition of etherial, with a modern twist. We’re in love with the plunging neckline and tiered petticoat-style skirt, her lace details are to die for, and we picture her twirling the night away; champagne in hand and a smile on her face.

Andy

Andy is sleek, chic, and leaves us feeling in the knees, weak (we tried). This dress’ glimmering sequin lace and exposed boned bodice is timeless elegance with just the right amount of pizazz. She’ll leave a lasting impression, with memories to have an hold for a lifetime.

MWL_NYC_DAY3-71.jpg

Joey

So “put a ring on it” has been checked off the list, but what about putting a bow on it? This is a lace stunner with some gorgeous movement, and a trailing bow that proves this dress can walk the walk.

MWL_NYC_DAY3-91.jpg

Max

Ah, Max. Romance at it’s finest. The exposed boning, floral appliqués, and lush flowing skirt have us thinking of star-crossed lovers in far away fair Verona. We could write sonnets for this dress. Oh, and the sleeves are removable. Need we say more?

MWL_NYC_DAY3-102.jpg

MWL_NYC_DAY1-17.jpg

Scottie

Get your vintage glam on with Scottie! This dress has an art deco flair with a twist, with an intricate design of pearls lacing across the down. Your grandma would be proud- and we can’t blame her- she’s a lady with excellent taste.

MWL_NYC_DAY1-42.jpg

Flynn

Flynn is a classic beauty with a bit of sass in her step. Her form-fitting cut and exposed boning carves a stunning silhouette, dripping in elegant lace and with a low back to drop jaws even lower.

MWL_NYC_DAY3-92.jpg

Jordan

Where do we even start with Jordan? This gown is decadent, with striking simplicity sure to leave an impression. Jordan defines a modern bride, one who shines no matter what she’s wearing, but who would be sure to absolutely dazzle in this dress.

We hope you babes are as excited for these dresses as we are! Wanna be the first to know when these arrive? Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter for the scoop!

#TMBTEAM: Adele Gatto, Public Relations and Creative Director

Our team at The Modern Bride has grown and we couldn’t be more excited! This is the perfect opportunity to introduce you to all the beautiful babes who make The Modern Bride so successful! Each week we will share some fun facts to highlight one of our #TMBTeam members. Today, we are introducing you to our Public Relations & Creative Director, Adele!

Adele Gatto.jpeg

You’ve been at TMB for over a year and a half now, why do you love working at TMB?

Every day I am surrounded by inspiring, supportive boss ladies where the main goals are to make every bride who walks through our doors know she is absolutely deserving of whatever bridal dream she envisions. Every day here is a Royal Wedding; a modern Royal Wedding, of course!

Ok so now it’s time to talk about your dream wedding! Is it happening in the spring, summer, fall or winter?
Without a doubt it will be a snow-covered, BC mountainscape, winter wedding on New Years Eve, baby!

modernbride064.jpg

So if your NYE wedding was actually tomorrow, what TMB dress would you choose to get married in?

Nico by Alexandra Grecco, with a custom extended train for all the drama!

Veil or No Veil:

This just isn’t even a debate in my opinion: veil! When are you ever going to get the chance to wear a veil again? You’ll find me walking down the aisle in a Meghan-Markle-esque veil; an absolute show stopper from Aleksa Karina or Alice & Mae!

Bridal fashions are always evolving, but what is a 2019 bridal fashion trend you are loving right now?

Higher necklines on dresses! I think there is something so regal and classic about a structured high-neckline.

modernbride120.jpg

As a self proclaimed lover of all things weddings, if you had to pick, what would be your favourite part of the wedding?

Groom’s reaction to bride walking down the aisle; whether it is a grin from ear to ear or, my personal favourite, a groom brought to tears! Call me old-fashioned, but I say skip the ‘first look’ and save the initial emotions for the walk down the aisle.

Finally, what are 3 things people may not know about you?

  1. I'm absolutely petrified of butterflies.

  2. If I didn’t already have my dream job, I’d be a sports reporter.

  3. My half-blind French Bulldog, Gordon Bombay is my world.

TMB in NYC: Top 5 Trends We Saw at NYC Bridal Market

Jess Hirst Alicia Gibson Bridal Market NYC .jpg

We came, we saw, we fell head over heels for all the wedding dresses at 2018 NYC Bridal Market!

If you were following along with our Instagram stories this past weekend, you would have noticed we were a wee-bit excited about everything we saw at 2018 NYC October Bridal Market! We met with amazing designers we currently carry and we were in complete awe of their newest collections. We also met with some new designers who we will be bringing into the boutique and can’t wait to tell you more about.

Before we dish on all the new styles and designers that will be coming to TMB in Spring 2019, we wanted to break down the ‘Top 5 Bridal Trends We Saw in NYC’!

  1.  Unconventional Fabric - Swiss dot, intertwined honeycomb sponge mesh, and bee lace (yes you read that right, literal lace bees on a dress)!

  2. Bell Sleeves – Get ready ladies, flowing sleeves are coming and we just cannot wait for you to fall in love with them as much as we did! The bell sleeves give off a super romantic and fun vibe for your wedding day.

  3. 90’s Necklines – We’re talking crescent necklines and straight across necklines, so think Alicia Silverstone as Clueless’ Cher Horowitz in that infamous red dress or Rachael Lee Cook in She’s All That, ahh gorgeous!

  4. Cut Outs – Cut outs are still very much a thing in bridal and we couldn’t be happier about it; nothing like a little peak-a-boo to modernize your dress!

  5. New Individual Lines – We saw a lot of young entrepreneurial women who are shaping the future of bridal! We’re predicting that the bridal world is on a shift from a big box wedding dress production to individually-inspired dress designs with young entrepreneurial woman at the helm of their very own lines.

That’s it for now babes, but stay tuned for a complete vlog recap of our NYC trip! #TMBinNYC

TMB Bash!

When I think about our Grand Opening I could have never imagined the way our space transformed, the love and support that came with every guest and the complete awe that I felt watching the whole thing unfold.

It was truly beyond my creative scope to have imagined this space, our amazing staff and the support that we received that night.

Thank you. To each and everyone of you who came to celebrate our Grand Opening in the Petrie Building. If you would have asked me 5 years ago, in our tiny first shop, if I imagined any of this I can truthfully say; only in my wildest dreams.

1486Photography_TMB-4.jpg
1486Photography_TMB-28.jpg

We are so grateful for everyone who has helped us get to this point, from contractors to friends and family who took the time out of their everyday lives to help out. Our amazing landlords and of course our staff who we truly couldn't do any of this without. All of the love and support we have received is so amazing.

Where do we even start? Planning our Grand Opening Party was so much fun... hectic at times, but so much fun nonetheless. We are so lucky to know so many talented people who helped make our event amazing! Each vendor brought their absolute best and every little detail brought our night to life. From our incredible, larger than life floral wall, the spot-on bar and food service, our DJ who kept us moving all night, the videographer and photographer who captured the entire night, to the hair and makeup and the models who made the fashion show one to remember!

Vendors who helped us make our grand opening party a huge success!

The food was nothing short of amazing! So tasty and the presentation was elegant, as always!

Foodies Anonymous is by far one of our favourite catering companies in Guelph. They not only provide exceptional food AND service but they are innovative, passionate and seriously unique! I would have to say that their Califlower, Beer, Ceddar soup was by far my favourite with all the other food coming in a close second!

1486Photography_TMB-41.jpg

The set-up crew was so fast and the finished result was incredible! Our staff are nothing short of amazing!

1486Photography_TMB-106.jpg

From our little TMB family to you - thank you so much and we love you!

1486Photography_TMB-66.jpg

The team at Coccola blew my mind! I had given very little direction on how I wanted our models to look; nothing too "bridal", show me editorial and current. They did not disappoint. Our live-action hair and make-up backstage was nothing short of magical and Elissa and her team made the Gemini girls look runway fabulous.

1486Photography_TMB-191.jpg

We love these photographs - the ones that capture the little moments. Whether it is just a quick glance or a stolen kiss, these are the moments that give us the butterflies.

Alana at 1486 photography was an easy choice. She has an incredible eye and a presence that makes the fake smile fade away and become completely genuine. She spent the evening capturing the moments I will look back on for many MANY years!

1486Photography_TMB-193.jpg
1486Photography_TMB-203.jpg

Our fashion show was intended to show our style, and the ladies of Gemini models did just that! We stood at the end of that runway in amazement as our curated collection was revealed.
A big shoutout to Brooklyn, Val, Reily and Leanna for an exceptional show and for bringing all our gowns to life!

We are truly over the moon, and so exhilarated as the future unfolds for TMB!

Thank you to everyone who drove from near and far to christen this space and celebrate our current success and the adventures yet to come! A very special shout out to Alicia, Taylor, Sierra, Adele, Melissa and Jay who make TMB the best place to work and for always putting our bride first.

Also, to Sarah Gostlin (honorary TMB staff) for helping the night go smoothly, and for her constant support in my dreams!

Here's to the future, may it always look so bright!
