Help, I Can’t Say Yes To The Dress

Let’s call a spade a spade: wedding dress shopping can be hard. There are so many options and opinions and societal pressures and TikToks and Reels to make about the journey to finding a dress!

Last week we took to our Instagram to ask you (and then to our Bridal Stylists) what has been holding you back from saying yes! And then, of course, we got to the bottom of it! Have a read through about the most common reasons brides are struggling to say yes and how we can help overcome them!

I’M WORRIED A BETTER DRESS WILL COME

Here’s the thing: there will always be a new dress, a more on trend dress, an ‘if that was around when I was shopping I would wear it’ dress, but that is the lifecycle of fashion! If you’re shopping in your designated time to shop, you will be seeing all the dresses available to you! With that info, choose the dress you love the most and don’t worry about the next dress coming out. Fear of the fashion future or next best thing leads to a lot of unnecessary wedding stress. You don’t need that!

I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE I SAY YES

First things first, you don’t NEED to change your body for your wedding day. You actually are, dare we say the p word, perfect the way you are. If you are on a journey to alter your body (weight loss, weight gain, etc) we will support you! The best thing you can do is be open and honest with your stylist about whatever journey you are on. Our knowledge about the construction of the dress and designer sizing allows us to make the most educated size recommendation, but then it’s up to you to make the final decision. Oh and just a friendly reminder, all dresses need alterations; your seamstress will make your dress fit like a glove.

I DON’T THINK MY DREAM DRESS EXISTS

We typically hear this when a bride has over shopped or with brides who have focused a little too narrowly on the idea of a dress from their Pinterest board. Our advice, aside from a friendly, ‘don’t over shop and come with an open mind?’ Work with your stylist! Your Bridal Stylist is here to help your vision come to life. Sometimes your dream dress is just a couple Bridal Stylist questions away. Your Bridal Stylist can suggest certain customizations or accessory pairings to make the look your unique dream.

MY [INSERT PERSON] DIDN’T LIKE MY FAVOURITE

Here’s the hard truth: not everyone is going to like your dress. Tragic and rude, I know. This is exactly why you need to purchase the dress that YOU love. You are the one wearing the dress and making it your own. I know it can be hard when you want someone to love it as much as you but I guarantee we will bring that hype for you! I also guarantee whoever didn’t like it at your appointment, when they see you on your wedding day, they will be astonished at how stunning you are in the dress... wanna know why? Because YOU love it and you are glowing!
