Real Bride: Carissa & Rob

Hello TMB babes! Today we have another lovely Real Bride feature, from our bride Carissa. She looked so stunning in her dress, and make sure you read her words of wisdom for your own dress shopping experience! She couldn’t be more right!

How did you and your hubby meet?

From Carissa:

Carissa and Rob met at the Owen Sound Fishing Derby years ago. Carissa was there with Rob's cousin Kelsey and she introduced the two. Rob was only 18 years-old at the time, but still drunk enough to call Carissa approximately 10 times that night, which is her favourite part of the story to tell. After meeting that night in late August, Carissa and Rob discovered that they were coincidentally planning on attending the same college just a couple of short weeks later. Despite the endless phone calls (hello, clinger alert!), by some miracle Carissa still liked Rob enough to continue hanging out with him. After living with roommates in Kitchener for 2 years, they decided to move in together and relocate to Orangeville. From there, the two packed up and moved to Barrie. In the beginning, Carissa and Rob didn't know their relationship would turn into forever, but fast forward to now and here they are - 8 years into forever with a beautiful home and their puppy, Denz. After everything, I guess you could say these lovebirds are college sweethearts.

Favourite/epic wedding moment?

I have a couple. First, I did a first look with my dad. That moment was incredibly special for me. I could see him wiping his eyes before he even turned around to see me so I knew I was going to be emotional when he turned around. Second, seeing Rob's reaction when he first saw me. Rob's body language screamed admiration and happiness - I couldn't wait to get to the end of the alter to hold his hands and kiss him for the first time as his wife.

Any wisdom for future TMB brides?

Make your dress shopping experience intimate. Only take 1 or 2 people who's opinions you value. And at the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is YOURS. Take a minute to look at yourself in the dressing room alone. BREATHE. Don't feel like you have to make an immediate decision. After all, this is one of the most important decisions you will ever make!

Something I won't forget.

My brother had a little too much to drink by the time he was supposed to give his speech. During his speech, you could tell he was getting emotional and at the same time kind of stumbling to get his thoughts out because of the alcohol. Finally he just said, "f*ck the speech!" Everyone was howling with laughter. It was so perfect.
