Let's talk timing

So, You’re Engaged!

Congrats babe! It is your turn to stand on the pedestal, find your dream dress and say YES! We cannot wait to help you find your dream dress! We get asked time and time again about just that… time! We put this blog together as reference to answer everything you need to know about timing when it comes to finding that dream dress of yours!

When do I begin the search for my dream dress?

A question we get asked all the time babes!

The short and simple answer to our most asked question is we suggest you begin shopping 14-12 months before your wedding date. When we say begin we mean you are 100% ready to say yes if you fall in love with that dress!

Let's be honest, most of us don’t realize the process that goes into getting your dress, especially if you are ordering new opposed to purchasing off the rack. A lot of our designers make their dresses by hand, and they usually take anywhere between 4-6 months to make. You then need to factor in alterations! These are typically done at least three months before your wedding date. You should be contacting your seamstress as soon as you have your dress in hand!

This leads me to the next question...

How soon before my wedding should my dress be ready to go?

Ideally, you want to have your dress ready to arrive 4-6 months before your wedding. That will leave you the ideal amount of time for alterations. Alterations should start 3 months before your wedding and finish up around 1-3 weeks before your wedding. Some seamstresses are booked up and you might find yourself doing last minute alterations a week before the big day!

What if I wanted to start shopping sooner than that?

That is completely allowed, you do you babe! BUT you have to keep in mind you may miss out on new dresses coming in if you begin your search too early. Some brides know what they want and we love a bride who knows what she wants! Remember, if you are committing to a dress early, you want to stop looking at dresses entirely so you don’t fall in love with something else and end up confusing yourself or cheating on your dress. (it happens, trust us!)

Another thing to think about if you start shopping too early and don’t buy the dress you fell in love with, you risk that dress possibly being discontinued or TMB no longer having the sample by the time you are ready to say yes and well, we do not want that! SO what did we say a few minutes ago? It is best to start your shopping when you are ready to commit and buy that dress babe!

What about accessories?

Ideally, you are shopping for veils and accessories 3-4 months before your wedding! If you find something you love right away that is completely okay too!

The most important thing to note throughout this whole process is to remember that this experience should be fun! Take a deep breath and enjoy every second of this exciting chapter babes! We are so happy to be a part of it!!
