TMB Real Bride: Liz & Danny
When we first saw photos of Liz in her Anemone gown by Alena Leena Bridal, we were floored. Liz is basically the definition of a modern bride. She looked absolutely stunning on her day, and we loved reading a bit about her intimate wedding celebration!
1. How did your love story begin?
Danny and I first came to know of each other while studying commerce at McMaster University. While we would spot one another on the bus or in class, we never struck up a conversation. Three years later on Valentine's Day, we ran into each other at a mutual friend’s party and recognized one another right away. The rest is history!
2. Best part of wedding planning?
We truly wanted to make the planning process as stress-free as possible and enjoy every moment, especially since our wedding date was only 9 months after we got engaged. It was so fun to share all of the special moments leading up to our big day with our family and friends - wedding dress shopping, bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette parties! Beyond that, the best part was probably planning the honeymoon!
3. How would you describe your wedding style?
I have always loved winter and how peaceful, calm, stark, and almost magical it is outside when everything is covered in snow. While we didn't get any picturesque snow on our big day, we tried to plan the decor and atmosphere in a way that felt peaceful and calm but also warm and inviting. I love neutral colours and the warmth of deep greens, so we decided to go with a white and green colour scheme with lots of candles and gold accents to really mimic that winter feeling. We also had a smaller wedding and wanted to keep things fairly simple. Danny got a dark green suit, the wedding party was dressed in champagne and grey, and we decorated with winter white florals and greenery and a lot of string lighting. It was exactly how we pictured!
4. Favourite/epic moment from the big day?
It's so hard to choose! The whole day was amazing. We did a first look, so of course that was a big highlight as being able to finally see each other all dressed up really made everything feel real. The day really came alive after dinner and it was so fun seeing all of our family and friends up on the dance floor having so much fun. We stayed at the venue as long as possible begging the DJ to play longer!
5. Any other tidbits you want to share?
One of the best moments of the day that is still spoken about amongst all of our guests is Danny's mom's speech. She went up and roasted him with no mercy for 10 minutes straight and had every single person laughing! We are both so happy that we opted to have a smaller wedding (58 guests) because we truly got to interact with each person and I think it made the overall day so much more stress-free.
