Happy birthday The Modern Briiiiide! Happy Birthday to you! Sing it babes!

TMB turns 7 years old today and WOW what a wild 7 years it has been.

To celebrate, we are telling The TMB Story and giving you an inside look on the past 7 years of The Modern Bride. Did you know we weren’t always called The Modern Bride or that we have been in two locations since finally moving into our forever home in the Petrie Building? Well, grab a snack, your favourite beverage of choice and read on! Also, stay tuned for more blog posts about The TMB Story as we dig deeper into our last 7 years and all about our beautiful space.

Let’s start from the beginning shall we?

On November 15, 2013 Something Green Bridal Boutique was born at 54 Carden St.

The bridal experience is something I am so excited and passionate about,” Hirst says. “To be able to bring my skills and expertise to planning and coordinating and doing this kind of shop to help people have the best day they can. That’s what I want.” - Jess, 2013 upon opening Something Green

Jess and her then business partner Tammy, opened Something Green in a tiny space with just a few wedding dresses, some uncertainty, and BIG dreams. Their big opening PR stunt? Handing out hot chocolate and homemade cookies at the annual Guelph Santa Claus Parade!

Donna was there too, and she was a huge helping hand to the business. Not long after Something Green opened, Jess’s original business partner left and Donna and Jess, mother and daughter powerhouse, decided to enter a partnership. Despite having truly no idea about the extent of what they were getting themselves into, they took a big modern woman leap - and thank goodness they did!

Their little boutique on Carden grew and grew, and so did Jess & Donna’s vision. The space was nearly bursting at the seams with dresses - it was time to find a forever home.

J & D didn’t realize the potential their little boutique could have until they stumbled upon the Petrie Building by total coincidence. It was love at first sight and though they hit many hurdles on the way through the transformation, both of them will tell you it was SO worth it (but more on that later).

In 2016 Something Green went through its first biggest rebrand and was given a new look as The Modern Bride. What started out as the little boutique that could, turned into a successful brand powered by two strong and inspiring women. 7 years later, TMB is bigger than anyone could have ever imagined and it is all thanks to you babes!

So today we say happy birthday to TMB but also a BIG thank you for all of your support, raving Google reviews and following us along on this 7 year journey, with many more to come.
